Mayor Lynn Acre
Municipality of Bayham
9344 Plank Road, Straffordville
Dear Madam Mayor,
It has come to my attention that Mat Redsell in Port Burwell has received a citation from Bayham's by-law enforcement officer for an offense for which there was no complaint registered and for which an incredibly large number of Bayham citizens, corporate and private, including the municipality itself, are guilty -- having a vehicle on the property without a valid registration.
I am not asking you to intervene in this matter. Rather, I am requesting that you accept Mat's open invitation to visit him on his property to learn what he is doing. Mat is an innovator and one who is willing to share.
Last week, when the provincial premiers met to discuss the economy, they came out promoting innovation as the way to build Canada's economy and Ontario's Premier, Dalton McGuinty, said: "Every single day Canadians working in laboratories, or garages or basements, are working on ideas which we ought to be able to help commercialize." Madam Mayor, Mat is such an innovator. And he is one of those innovators who has the potential to put Bayham on the map and lead the way to that "new economy". It is unfortunate that he feels that his innovations are not appreciated here in Bayham. I believe if more people, including yourself, were aware of the progress he has made in a relatively short period of time, the opportunities for Bayham would become clear.
It is worth your time to visit him and see what he is up to. You won't be sorry you did.
Sincerely,
Sean Hurley,
